A liturgical Baptist community |
Our worship is Trinitarian, follows a traditional liturgical calendar, and we celebrate Communion each Sunday.
Our instruction centers on the Word of God. Our fellowship centers on the Table of Christ and is expressed in gatherings both at the church building and in homes. We seek to engage the world around us by sharing God’s love with our neighbors through works of charity and proclamation of the Gospel. We are a worshiping community, led by a plurality of elders, confessing the Biblical truths summarized in the Apostle’s and Nicene Creeds. We are committed to living out a 1st Century faith in the 21st Century. We practice ancient and historical forms of worship in song and liturgy, we follow the Church calendar, observe special holy days, and celebrate weekly Communion. CCC is a member congregation of the Southern Baptist Convention. |
The Church CalendarOur emphasis on being an authentic community of faith draws from the rich traditions of the Church around the world and throughout time.
The church calendar is a traditional way of marking our days according to the significant events in the life of Christ. Beginning with the Advent season, the calendar celebrates Jesus’ incarnation, revelation, temptation, suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension as well as the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. We celebrate and have time-relevant songs, readings and sermons during the seasons. We follow the Revised Common Lectionary for our Scripture readings. Within our use of the calendar we observe special worship services for various days such as Christmas Eve, Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, the Jesus Feast (Maundy Thursday), Tenebrae (Good Friday) and Feast of Reformation Day. |
